Directions to the Chelsea Retirement Communities, 805 West Middle, Chelsea:

Take Main Street (M52) north to the traffic light next to ZouZou’s and turn left going west on Middle Street. Click here for a map.

To Dancey House, 801 West Middle Street: At the west end of Middle Street, Dancey House is directly in front of you, but do not go through the stone gate. Turn right and then immediately turn left into the parking lot. Park anywhere except under the roof. Enter through the front door of Dancey House and follow the signs to the downstairs auditorium.

To the Crippen Building, 725 West Middle Street: At the west end of Middle Street, turn left into the driveway immediately before the stone pillars. The Crippen Building is the first building on your left as you enter the circular drive around the apartments. Parking is available in front of the building.

To the Triplett Building, 809 West Middle Street: Enter through the main CRC gate and drive to the left (past the chapel). Turn left at the sign that points to Towsley Village and immediately turn immediately right into the parking lot. Enter from the parking lot through the door next to the sign that says "Lois B. Triplett Corporate Office" and go to the first room on the left. Parking is permitted in the spaces reserved for WCC students. (If that parking lot is full, park in any nearby lot.)

Directions to Silver Maples of Chelsea, 100 Silver Maples Drive, Chelsea:

Take Main Street (M52) north from I-94 to the traffic light at the Chelsea State Bank and CVS Pharmacy. Turn right onto Old US 12 past the entrance to the Wellness Center and then left (north) on Silver Maples Drive. Click here for a map. Park in visitor parking on either side of the main building and enter the main door under the canopy.

Directions to The Pines, 325 Wilkinson, Chelsea:

From Main Street (M52), turn west on Middle Street and then left on Wilkinson Street. Go in the drive and park to the south (right) of the building in the unmarked spaces. Enter the Pines Drive and bear Right at the Y split. Park in visitor parking on the south (right) side of the building in the unmarked spaces. Enter through the main entrance and proceed down the hallway past the elevators to the community room. Click here for a map.

Directions to the First United Methodist Church, 128 Park Street, Chelsea:

Turn east onto Park Street from Main Street (M-52). The church is a large stone structure on the right (south) side of the street. Parking is available in public lots north and west of the church. Click here for a map.

Directions to the Eddy Discovery Center, 17030 Bush Road between Pierce and McClure Roads northwest of Chelsea:

From Ann Arbor or Jackson, take I-94 to exit 157 (Pierce Road), go north to Bush Road, and take Bush Road west (left) to the center.  From Chelsea, take West Middle Street, which becomes Cavanaugh Lake Road. Turn right (north) on Pierce Road until it dead ends at Bush Road. Take Bush Road left (west) to the center. Click here for a map.

A Michigan state park sticker is required for all cars. These are available at the Discovery Center.

Directions to the Common Grill , 112 South Main Street, Chelsea:

North of Old US 12 between Park/South streets and West Middle street on the west side of the Main Street.

Directions to the Cedars of Dexter , 411 Cedars lane, Dexter, Michigan:

From the intersections of Dexter-Ann Arbor Rd, Dexter-Chelsea Rd, and Dexter-Pinckney Rd,  go WEST on Dexter-Pinckney Rd (Main Street) and under the railroad viaduct. Continue through the traffic light, going straight onto Island Lake Rd for about 0.5 miles.  Turn left into the Cedars and follow the signs to the clubhouse.  Enter at the side door. The classroom will be on the right.

Directions to Gordon Hall, Dexter, Michigan:

From Chelsea, take the Chelsea/Dexter Road to Main Street in Dexter. Turn left (west) and go under the viaduct to the traffic light. Turn left at the traffic light into the driveway to Gordon Hall. Park in the paved parking lot. Enter Gordon Hall through the front door under the portico.

Directions to White Oak Center, Chelsea Hospital Campus, 775 S. Main Street, Chelsea:

From Main Street (M-52), turn EAST into the NORTH campus entrance to Chelsea Hospital across from Lincoln St. on the west.  Continue past the White Oak Inn; turn RIGHT into the parking lot just past the Inn.  Follow the first driveway on the left to the end and the White Oak Center is on the left. Park and enter through the south entrance, (not the entrance to the White Oak Inn, which is under the large green awning). Walk straight ahead and turn left at the dead end.  Take the stairs on the right to the second floor OR continue down the hallway to the elevator and follow the signs to the Atrium room on second floor.

Directions to the Washington Street Education Center,
500 Washington Street, Chelsea:

Take Main Street (M52) north to Van Buren (Perky Pantry Mobile on corner) and turn right. Take jog left and right again onto Washington Street. Turn right where the sign says Washington Street Education Center and keep going until you see the building with the blue awnings that read "Chelsea Senior Activities Center." Enter the building and follow the signs.

Who We Are

Based in Chelsea, Michigan, the Adult Learners Institute (ALI) provides a diverse selection of quality community-based learning experiences and camaraderie for adults in western Washtenaw County. ALI is a Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) affiliated with the Elderhostel Institute Network (EIN), a group of 320 similar organizations. We conduct our programs in cooperation with Washtenaw Community College.
