Committee Descriptions

Curriculum Committee: Jan Longworth and Camie Noah, Co-Chairs
Determines course line-up, organizes course schedule, communicates with instructors, schedules facilities, evaluates courses/teachers

Registration Committee: Jan Carr and Camie Noah, Co-Chairs
Registers participants, recruits and directs class assistants, maintains demographic records. Develops registration policy and procedures.

Web Committee: Dorothy Lieffers, Chair
Maintains website.  Updates web site content based on input from the Board and other chairs.  Maintains document and photo repositories.

Audiovisual Committee: June Weiland and Jack Merkel, Co-Chair
Arranges technical support for courses.  Takes photographs and uploads them to the photo repository.  Train A-V Assistant

Technology Committee: Dorothy Lieffers, Chair
Assists with technology issues.  Maintains databases and computers.

Public Relations Committee: Mary Ann Merkel and Susan Cross, Co-Chairs
Prepares press releases and other advertising, oversees design of brochure, organizes bulk mailings, designs flyers.

Finance Committee:
Prepares yearly budget proposals, maintains financial records, reconciles budget report and seek approval for monthly expenses.

Fundraising Committee: Mary Ann Merkel, Chair
Seeks donations and grants on an as-needed basis.

Who We Are

Based in Chelsea, Michigan, the Adult Learners Institute (ALI) provides a diverse selection of quality community-based learning experiences and camaraderie for adults in western Washtenaw County. ALI is a Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) affiliated with the Elderhostel Institute Network (EIN), a group of 320 similar organizations. We conduct our programs in cooperation with Washtenaw Community College.
